Better Access Pandemic Support measure

The Australian Government has introduced additional Medicare items to support the response to COVID-19.

Until 30 June 2022, the number of psychological therapy services that clients can access under the Better Access initiative has been increased from 10 to 20 sessions per calendar year.

Furthermore, until 31 March 2021, Better Access items will be expanded to include telehealth video and phone consultations.

For more information, please read the MBS factsheet for practitioners developed by the Department of Health.

Further information for clients regarding COVID-19 and Medicare funded psychology services is available on the Australian Psychological Society website.
